Info

Shazam is a mobile app that identifies music playing around you or within other apps.
It can recognize songs from various sources, including radio, TV, and even within apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

Pre-start

I wanted to challenge myself with a fun redesign exercise. I filled a wheel with popular apps, gave it a spin, and fate chose Shazam.

From there, my goal was simple: keep the essence of Shazam but refresh its look and feel for a smoother, more modern experience.

I wanted to challenge myself with a fun redesign exercise. I filled a wheel with popular apps, gave it a spin, and fate chose Shazam.

From there, my goal was simple: keep the essence of Shazam but refresh its look and feel for a smoother, more modern experience.

What I did:

  • Started by carefully copying the selected Shazam screens pixel by pixel to ensure accuracy.

  • Analyzed the flow and structure of the app through this replication process.

  • Identified opportunities for cleaner navigation and a smoother user journey.

  • Observed how typography, spacing, and color accents contribute to the overall visual style.

  • Noted key interaction patterns and how they support faster, more intuitive use.

The outcome is a detailed study of Shazams design language and user flow, providing insights into how the app balances identity, usability, and visual clarity.
